November 4 Meeting
Video Without Tears – Brian Foley, MUG ONE Elections

Brian Foley showed us easy ways to make videos and share them with family and friends, as well as simple ways to publish them on the web with websites like YouTube at our November meeting. He took us from camera (a video camera or your Mac's built-in iSight camera) to finished product, using iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand, as well as Keynote and sound and screen-capture programs. Great presentation, Brian!

We also held our annual election of MUG ONE officers.

As always, the meeting began with a question and answer session and ended with a door prize drawing for current members and refreshments for all. The MUG ONE lending library was available for members.

October 7 Meeting
Adam Engst: iPhoto '09 and Snow Leopard Tips and Tricks

On October 7 renowned Mac author, speaker and TidBITS publisher Adam Engst delighted a full house of MUG ONE members and friends with his information-packed presentation on iPhoto '09. Fresh from publishing iPhoto 09 for Mac OS X: Visual QuickStart Guide (Peachpit and Take Control eBooks), Adam had literally every imaginable detail of the latest version of iPhoto at his fingertips. Even seasoned iPhoto users came away with new tips, tricks and shortcuts to make the most of this increasingly powerful application.

Adam wrapped up his presentation with a look at some of the lesser-known features of , and iPhoto and with the just-released Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and answered questions on a wide range of topics. He then signed copies of iPhoto 09 for Mac OS X: Visual QuickStart Guide while we conducted the monthly door prize drawing. Adam generously provided the prizes, including the coveted Grand Prize of the entire collection of Take Control ebooks.

Many, many thanks to Adam for a thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring presentation.

September 9 Meeting
iTunes, Apple Announcements and (maybe) Snow Leopard

At the September 9 MUG ONE meeting, Keith Robisch showed us how to harness the power of iTunes Playlists and the Genius feature, and Elsa Travisano reported on the new and updated iPods and iTunes 9 announced earlier that day at Apple's September 9 Special Media Event. She also gave us a sneak peek at a couple of OS 10.6 Snow Leopard features to whet our appetites for Adam Engst's October presentation.

We concluded the evening with a giveaway of older books from the MUG ONE lending library, a door prize drawing for current members, and refreshments for all.

June 3 Meeting
Mori and System Updates

On June 3 Brian Foley showed us the many capabilities of Mori, digital notebook software from Apokolypse Software. Then Mark Dye discussed in detail the lastest Mac system software update, Mac OS 10.5.7, and gave recommendations for precautions to take (backing up your data, etc.) before installing a system update. Thanks to Brian and Mark for a very interesting set of presentations.

As always, the meeting began with a question and answer session and ended with a door prize drawing for current members and refreshments for all. The MUG ONE lending library was available before and after the meeting, and several members checked out materials for summer learning.

May 6 Meeting
Apple Senior Systems Engineer David M. Marra –
Apple iLife '09 and iWork '09

Apple Senior Systems Engineer Dave Marra gave delighted MUG ONE members a terrific show his eighth annual presentation on May 6 in 103 Golisano Hall on the Hartwick College campus.

In typical whirlwind fashion, Dave showed us creative new ways to work with digital photos, movies, music and more with the iLife '09 suite, highlighted by demos of iMovie '09's new image stabilization feature, GarageBand's amazing musical composition and learning features and iPhoto '09's souped-up slide show themes and formats.
He also gave us a look at how easy and fun word processing, spreadsheets and presentations can be with iWork '09, which continues to be compatible with Microsoft Office.

Dave fielded a slew of questions from the audience of more than forty attendees, and set our minds at ease about recent media allegations of Mac "viruses" – simply not true, as Dave explained. After his presentation door prizes were awarded and refreshments were enjoyed. Dave was in top form and attendees came away with plenty of ideas and inspiration. We're looking forward to seeing Dave again next year. After all, May is Marra Month at MUG ONE!

April 1 Meeting
The Many Uses of Preview and other Diverting Software – Mark Dye

On Wednesday, April 1 Mark Dye showed how to make the most of Preview, the free Mac OS X application that comes with every Mac. He also demoed VersionTracker, BYKI (free language learning), Onyx for system maintenance, features of the Menu bar, free alternatives to Microsoft Office, Tex-Edit and more. Many thanks to Mark for an information-packed program.

March 4 Meeting
Facebook, Classmates and Mark's Gems

MUG ONE met on Wednesday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Golisano Hall, the brand new, state of the art classroom building on the Hartwick College campus in Oneonta our March MUG ONE meeting. Note the new meeting place!

MUG ONE Secretary and Program Co-Chair Brian Foley gave an introduction to Classmates and Facebook. He demonstrated some easy ways to connect with and keep in touch with friends, family, classmates and colleagues and some approaches to using Facebook for business networking and career building. Brian's presentation took the entire meeting time, so we didn't have time to hear Mark Dye's "Mark's Gems" presentation on how to make the most of Preview, the free Mac OS X application that comes with every Mac.

As always, the meeting began with a question and answer session and ended with a door prize drawing for current members and refreshments for all.
